Terrorists fire at police post in Srinagar, one cop died

Terrorists fired on a police post in Chanapora area of the Srinagar city, in which one security personnel succumbed to his injuries.

Srinagar: A security personnel was killed in firing by terrorists on a police post in Chanapora area of the city on Friday, police said.

"There was a standoff firing on Police Post Chanapora falling under the jurisdiction of Police station Saddar. One policeman succumbed to his injuries," a police spokesman said.

He said that the cop could not be saved, though he was shifted to a hospital for treatment. The area around the police post has been put under cordon and search operation is going on in the Srinagar city.
