Udhampur: Bird flu has been confirmed in domestic hens in Jaganu block of Udhampur district. The samples which were sent to lab in Bhopal turned positive on Saturday.
The Commissioner Secretary of Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Department has issued a notification on Saturday directing District Collector of Udhampur to impose various restrictions in Jaganu.
After few deaths were reported in Jaganu block, the animal husbandry department was informed. Later, samples of the dead hens were sent to the National Institute of Eye Security Animal Disease Laboratory, Bhopal for investigation which turned positive.
In the wake of this, the Commissioner Secretary of Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Department have issued a notification. District administration has been directed to issue alert.
Area within the one-kilometre radius where the infection was reported was declared an infected zone. One to ten kilometre within Dhandal has been declared as surveillance zone. The Animal Husbandry Department Jammu has also been instructed to take necessary steps along with carrying out surveillance. DC Udhampur has been asked to work under the Revised Action Plan.
