Jammu: The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) of the Indian Army on Thursday defused many live mortar shells in Mendhar area of J&K's Poonch district.
For the last two days, the Pakistan army had resorted to unprovoked and indiscriminate shelling on the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar sector.
A girl and an elderly man were injured and four houses were damaged in Pakistan shelling in the area.
Discovering many unexploded shells lying near streams and inhabited areas, civilians had approached the authorities to clear the area of these shells.
As there was no firing and shelling on the LoC in Mendhar sector on Thursday, the Army's BDS moved in to defuse the unexploded shells, police sources added.
