Assam man who lost his leg in accident appeals for help

Joseph, a rickshaw driver from Assam, met with an accident in Jammu three months ago. His leg was amputated in the accident.

Jammu: A man from Assam, hospitalized in Jammu after an accident, has been yearning to return home. Being penniless with deteriorated health, Joseph has been appealing for help.

Joseph, who drives a rickshaw in Delhi, regained his consciousness in a city hospital and he got to know that his leg was amputated. He had gone to Jammu on a trip with a friend, three months ago and met with the accident in Katra area.

While he continues to recuperate in the hospital, Joseph has not been able to make any contact with his family till now. He does not own a mobile phone and does not remember the phone numbers of any of his family members in Assam.

Jammu medical college has, so far, borne all expenses and treated him for free. The hospital authorities have been planning to implant a prosthetic leg.

Talking to ETV Bharat, Joseph said he does not know how he ended up in the hospital and it was strangers who took him to the hospital. Joseph appealed to the people to help him financially and also assist him in contacting his family so that he can go home.
