Jammu: Confirming that 4G internet would be made available in the valley soon, Jammu and Kashmir Election Commissioner, KK Sharma said it had to be down so that the maiden District Development Council (DDC) polls go on smoothly without any disturbance.
"Some people are trying to disturb the election process, that's why the internet had to be down," KK Sharma said.
Adding that a good number of voters turned up for the polls, Sharma said people took part in DDC election with interest.
"DDC polls were held peacefully in Jammu and Kashmir and it is welcome step that 30 per cent voting was held in the valley," the Commissioner added.
In the wake of militant attacks and for the safety of some candidates, Sharma explained that celebration by winning candidates was also banned.
