4 arrested for procuring medical seats for J&K students in Pakistan: DGP Singh

The Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed to have arrested four persons for allegedly procuring seats in Pakistan's medical colleges for students from the Union territory through Hurriyat and terror funding.

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested four persons for allegedly procuring seats in Pakistan's medical colleges for students from the Union territory through Hurriyat and terror funding.

Addressing a press conference at Srinagar's Police Control Room, Jammu and Kashmir police's Director-General Dilbag Singh said, "Mohammed Akbar Bhat alias Zafar Bhat, Fatima Shah, Mohammed Abdullah Shah, and Shabzar Ahmed Sheikh have been arrested in connection with procuring MBBS seats for students from Jammu and Kashmir in Pakistan through Hurriyat and terror funding."

“Brother of Mohammed Abdullah Shah went to Pakistan in the ’90s and was working as a facilitator of Hurriyat,” he added.

He further said that details of other accused can’t be shared right now.

"The investigation is underway and more arrests can happen in the coming days," he added.
