Srinagar: Two unidentified terrorists were killed in an encounter between militants and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district on Monday, police said.
Security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Srigufwara area of Anantnag district early in the morning following information about the presence of militants there, a police official said.
He said around 6.40 am, the militants, who were hiding, opened firing on the security forces, who retaliated.
No casualties have been reported so far, the police official said.
Earlier, three militants were killed in an encounter that raged between security forces and militants in Gulshan Abad Reban village of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday.

Official sources said that an encounter broke out between militants and government forces after contingents of Army’s 22 RR, SOG Sopore and 179 BN of CRPF, 177 BN, 92 BTN, Baramulla QRT and Police cordoned off the Reban village.
On July 11, two terrorists were killed as the Army foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Naugam sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Arms and ammunition, including two AK-47 rifles, were recovered.
