A sentry opened fire on a camp officer near the court complex and then shot himself with his service rifle, killing himself.
According to sources, there was some argument between the ASI and the sentry and afterwards, the sentry unexpectedly shot the officer and then killed himself. Police have arrived on the scene to assess the situation.
An SSB official said that a quarrel broke out between Assistant Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kumar Ballot No. 13050920 and Constable Hemant Sharma Ballot No. 100641097 at the main gate of PC Kulgam. Both are from SSB 49G Company. Constable Hemant fired his I-Insas rifle and killed the ASI on the spot while Hemant also shot himself. Both died on the spot.
Police also called an FSL team and lodged a report. The bodies of the two soldiers were sent to the district hospital for postmortem.
