"Two LeT militants who attacked the CRPR personnel have been identified. One terrorist, Saifullah, a Pakistani, had earlier attacked the CRPF personnel twice while the other one is a local terrorist," Kumar told media persons near the spot.

"The highway is vulnerable to attacks but due to the movement of civilian vehicles, our personnel face difficulty to retaliate to avoid civilian casualties. We have to take preventive measures before firing in retaliation," the IGP said.

Earlier on September 22, a CRPF jawan was injured and his service rifle taken away by terrorists in an attack in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The terrorists shot at and injured the CRPF jawan of 110 battalion at Kaisermulla in Budgam district.

The terrorists also reportedly decamped with the service weapon, an AK assault rifle, of the injured jawan, who was hospitalised.
