27 injured as under-construction bridge collapses in J-K's Samba

At least 27 people were injured when the iron shuttering over an under-construction bridge collapsed in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.

Jammu: At least 27 people, mostly labourers, were injured on Sunday when the iron shuttering over an under-construction bridge collapsed in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials told ETV Bharat that the under-construction bridge over the Devak river near Koulpur village collapsed at around 4.07 pm, injuring 27 people.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba Dr Abhishek Mahajan said a rescue operation was immediately launched and the injured, mostly labourers working at the site, were evacuated to hospitals.

The official said the cause of the accident was not known immediately and an investigation was underway.
