Kullu: The Himachal Pradesh police on Tuesday seized assets worth Rs 42 lakh of a charas smuggler, who owns a tailoring shop in the Banjar area of Kullu.
According to the police, the accused bought a car worth Rs 8.5 lakh in 2018, and a 4 hectare land worth Rs 7.41 lakh in 2019.
So far, the police have seized properties worth Rs 52 lakh of 16 accused in 10 cases of NDPS.
In another case of drug smuggling, Tuticorin police seized 'charas' worth Rs 2.5 crore which was to be smuggled to Sri Lanka. Following a tip-off about drug smuggling, the vehicle checkup was intensified along the district borders and the smugglers were picked up during one such vehicular checkup.
The Narcotics Control Bureau officials arrested 2 men from Kolkata on September 12 for smuggling drugs to Hong Kong concealed inside courier parcels. They seized over 11.08 kilograms of Charas along with 20 bottles of Codeine cough syrup and some other medicines from their possession.
