Solan(Himachal Pradesh): Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry has commenced online classes to make farmers aware about the best crops for their lands. Nauni University is now giving online training to farmers where they can learn farming tips through Facebook and YouTube.

Even during the Covid-19 situation, lakhs of farmers and gardeners are being educated by the University. The University has created a Facebook page for farmers and now different videos are being prepared and posted on the page.
Till now, around 6 lakh farmers have received training through Facebook.
These videos have also been posted on YouTube, the UHF Kisan Seva Facebook page has become popular all over the country. Only videos related to farming, gardening, and advisory are being uploaded on this page, which reaches millions of people.
These videos are getting thousands of likes and significantly more shares.
Training is provided to farmers through YouTube
Vice-Chancellor of Nauni University, Dr Parvinder Kaushal said that all the information is given experimentally in these videos so that farmers and gardeners should not have any trouble in understanding. Right now, a video is being prepared about marigold farming.
He further said,'' During the training, only a few farmers were able to get training, but by sharing videos on Facebook page and YouTube, farmers can watch it anytime and can take advantage of it. Not only this, but people can also get their answers by asking their questions on this forum too.''
Scientists at Nauni University have prepared videos on the right time to harvest kiwi, produce healthy tubers of ginger, safe use of pesticides, tomato, capsicum, bean, ghee, cucumber, and medicinal plant cultivation.
Dr Parvinder Kaushal, VC of Nauni University, said that during Covid-19, the university could not get in touch with the farmers and gardeners. The university's training programs were also closed due to lockdown. In such a situation, the Directorate of Extension Education of the university found out this way to contact farmers and gardeners.
Young farmers, aged 25 to 40 years, from countries like Nepal, Pakistan, US, UK, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bangladesh, Greece, Bhutan, Australia Canada, Algeria, Vietnam, and Kuwait are also showing interest in the training sessions along with Indian farmers.
