Kullu (Himachal Pradesh): In a perfect example of communal harmony and brotherhood, a Hindu family in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu has been looking after an Islamic shrine for four generations.
For years, both Hindu and Muslim families have been visiting the Mazar (grave) of Pir Baba Lale Wale in Kullu to pay their obeisance.
People believe that a visit to the shrine fulfils all wishes.
However, what makes the shrine truly special, is the fact that a Hindu family has been looking after it for generations.
Surendra Mehta, a resident of Akhara Bazaar in Kullu, currently looks after the shrine. His ancestors used to take care of the shrine before him.
Mehta said that his family had come to Kullu in 1908. His grandfather had great dedication towards the shrine, and since then his family have been staunch devotees of Baba.
