Sirmaur: A nationwide lockdown has been imposed to flatten the curve of novel coronavirus infection in the country.
However, the lockdown has caused an adverse effect on the lives of many daily wage labourers and farmers in the country.
Farmers in Nahan area of Sirmaur district in Himachal Pradesh were facing unprecedented troubles due to restrictions on vehicular movements during the curfew and people were also avoiding visiting to the vegetable market. The farmers were incurring losses in such a situation.
Meanwhile, ETV Bharat highlighted the plight of farmers and urged the district administration to take rapid action for their welfare.
The administration came into action and announced that a separate helpline for such farmers is being set up to help them.
Deputy Commissioner Sirmaur Dr. R.K Paruthi said that under the agricultural helpline, grievances of the farmers will be heard and assistance will be provided to them. Similarly, a helpline is also being set up for horticulture.
The administration has made arrangements in Bilaspur, Shimla and Sirmaur for those who are producing mushrooms and strawberries in Bagwan district.
Dr. R.K Paruthi said that even after all this, if any farmer faces any problem, then the Deputy Director of Horticulture Department will be made the nodal officer and the farmer can then reach out to him to share his problem.
Earlier, ETV Bharat had also raised the problems faced by the mushroom and strawberry farmers and a quick action was taken by the authorities in this regard.
The farmers have expressed their gratitude towards the district administration and ETV Bharat for supporting them in these difficult times.
