Una (Himachal Pradesh): Minister of State for Finance & Corporate Affairs, Anurag Thakur, took part in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Una as part of Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary year celebrations, earlier today.
During his visit, he ran a cleanliness campaign in collaboration with common people and also made them aware of the reason behind the same.
Hitting back at former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan's statement, Finance Minister said that the Center has not done any work for economic betterment.
He said that "Despite being an economist, nothing was done by Raghuram Rajan during his tenure".
Later, he also challenged Raghuram Rajan to openly enter politics and claimed to have a lot of opportunity in the opposition.
Anurag Thakur visited Gagret and Chintpurni constituencies on the second day of the two-day visit to Una district.
Rajan, who was Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) from September 5, 2013 to September 2016, said during his term a clean up of the banking sector that was "clogging" with bad loans had begun and the job remains unfinished.
He said the country needs a new generation of reforms to accelerate economic growth. At 5 per cent GDP growth rate, India was witnessing substantial economic slowdown.
