Shimla: Chinese helicopters violated Indian airspace twice in Himachal Pradesh last month. The helicopter of the People's Liberation Army of China had infiltrated the Samdo post at Lahaul Spiti.
The first intrusion was reported on April 11 and the second on April 20. In both incidents, a Chinese helicopter was observed flying on the Indian side of the international border close to Sumdoh in the Spiti subdivision.
After this infiltration from China, Indian Army, Indian Tibet Border Police (ITBP), and Himachal Police has declared a high alert in both the districts of Lahaul and Kinnaur. The security and intelligence agencies of the state and the centre have also increased the vigil. The agencies have also asked people to remain alert.
At the same time, both incidents are in the notice of the Ministry of Home, Defense, and Foreign Affairs. China has also been made aware of this through proper means. It is worth mentioning that earlier on 16th March 2016 and 4th August 2017, similar intrusion took place near Samdo Post of Lahaul.
China has done this kind of activity many times before. According to the reports, about a week ago there was a clash between the soldiers of India and China in North Sikkim. Some soldiers received minor injuries. The matter was later resolved.
