Lahaul-Spiti: Incessant rains have been pounding the tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti in Himachal Pradesh since Wednesday, which has caused disruptions in the region.
A huge landslide on the road near Baralacha on the Manali-Leh road led to the road being completely closed for vehicular movement, with no traffic being allowed beyond Darcha. As many as 30 passengers were stranded on National Highway 505 near Gramphu due to the landslide.
In Losar on NH-505, nine km ahead of Gramphu, under Lahaul subdivision around six vehicles and three motorcycles with 30 passengers - including five children - were stranded. They were rescued and accommodated in the PWD guest house and nearby hotels. According to police, a Border Roads Organisation team moved in with its machinery towards the spot to clear the road for traffic movement. The restoration work is underway in the area.
