Chandigarh: With the ICC Cricket World Cup, 2019 underway, Chandigarh cricket enthusiasts donning colorful team jerseys are flocking the sports gear outlets in the city.
Malls and merchandise stores across the Union Territory, have kicked off the cricket season with live screenings of matches, colorful team jerseys and a lot more.
Dilip, an advisor at a sports store and a cricket fan himself, said, "jerseys of players like Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounder Hardik Pandya, are selling the most and our cricket accessories sales have also shot up following the World Cup fever."
"Our shop is also giving a 20 per cent discount on all the cricket accessories until the World Cup gets over," he added.
The shopkeepers are leaving no stone unturned to cash in on the cricket fever and are flooding their stores with cricket gears, jersey, and replicas of the ICC World Cup trophy.
The 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup is the 12th edition of the Cricket World Cup, being hosted by England and Wales.
