Kurukshetra: A farmer from Punjab covered a distance of almost 225 km on his bicycle to join the protest against newly enacted farm laws in New Delhi.
Kamaljeet Singh, a resident of Jogipur village, set out the journey on his bicycle, thinking it was a better option to overcome police blockades and traffic jams around the protest sites.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Singh said that since the roads were jammed at many places due to the protest, it was difficult to reach farmers by trolleys or other vehicles.
"I added a small hawker on the back of my bicycle, filled the boxes with water and reached Delhi covering the distance in almost 16 hours," he added.
He further said that he is a serviceman and commutes to his office on a bicycle covering a distance 30 kilometres every day.
It is pertinent to mention here that farmers on Wednesday rejected government's proposal over the farm laws and called for a nationwide sit-in protest on December 14.
The protest against the farm laws has been going on since November 26. The central government has held five rounds of talks with the farmer leaders, but no breakthrough has been achieved yet.
