Jind (Haryana): Haling from Jind district of Haryana, Vikram Sindhu is a Policeman in Haryana Police but his immense fondness for agriculture led him to start traditional and organic farming in the era of conventional farming.
Vikram Sindhu has taken the lead in promoting traditional farming among other farmers of the area.
In order to promote chemical-free farming, Sindhu has set up a farmer training center in his village where at one time more than 400 farmers get trained to do farming with organic methods like Compost. Till now, more than 18,000 farmers from various states like Haryana, UP, Bihar, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh have joined the campaign.
The farmers are provided free food and shelter during the trainingperiod.
Sindhu decided to start the campaign after he heard of eight deaths owing to cancer. Experts told these people died because of excessive intake of chemically cultivated products. After this incident, he initiated organic farming in his village.
He has created a multi-cropping model on his own farm, from which vegetables, crops, and fruits can be produced simultaneously. He says using this method, one can earn Rs 6 to 8 lakh from every acre of land.
Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu's foreign affairs adviser Mehendi Safa visited the field of Sindhu, and now he has called him to Israel so that farmers of Israel can also learn from his experience.
Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar and Animal Husbandry Minister Giriraj Singh also asked Vikram Sindhu to share his information and experience about the campaign.
