Sirsa: A 14-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped by her father, gave birth to a baby girl in a civil hospital in Sirsa, Haryana. According to reports, the minor was admitted to hospital following abdominal pain six months ago but the tests revealed the pregnancy.
The police had earlier arrested her father over her complaint on charges of rape and sexual harassment.
The condition of the minor is stable, but due to prematurity, the condition of the newborn is said to be serious. Both mother and daughter are currently admitted to Sirsa Civil Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
After getting the information, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, an officer of the District Child Welfare Committee reached the hospital and spoke to the girl herself. She said that now both the newborn and the mother will remain in the hospital for some time under the supervision of the Child Welfare Committee and the Health Department.
Dr. Gurpreet Kaur said that if the family or person wants to adopt the girl, then they have to fulfill necessary legal proceedings.
At the same time, Ram Kishan Dahiya, SMO of Sirsa Health Department said that the condition of the newborn girl remains critical, while her mother is fine. He further said that the newborn girl is being treated in the hospital. "When she is healthy, she will be handed over to the child welfare department," he said.
