Faridabad: After the Supreme Court directed to ensure removal of encroachments on the forest land in Faridabad’s Khori village, a Mahapanchayat was held by the villagers in the presence of a heavy security force on Wednesday. According to reports, villagers also raised slogans against the administration and pelted stones at the police party. On seeing the demonstration turning tense, police took action against the protestors and resorted to lathi-charge.
However, farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni, who also visited the spot, dismissed the reports terming them false. He said that no violence erupted in the area while admitting that the situation is tense. Chaduni said that both the lathi-charge and stone-pelting actions are wrong and should be avoided to maintain peace in the area. After the decision of the Supreme Court, the administration in Khori village has been preparing for the process of demolition for the last few days.
