This dairy will be launched under the guidance of the National Research Centre on Equines (NRCE) in Hisar district of Haryana which conducts research on horses. The dairy will foster donkeys of Halari breed and NRCE has already arranged 10 Halari donkeys from Gujarat who are currently under breeding process. The research work on donkey milk was started by former NRCE Director Dr BN Tripathi.
The milk of Halari donkey is full of medicinal properties as it helps in fighting against cancer, obesity and allergies.
The Dairy project work will start soon after the breeding process. The milk is sold at the price of around two to seven thousand rupees per litre in the market. Scientists of Hisar's NRCE and Karnal's Central Buffalo Research Center and National Dairy Research Institute will look into the dairy process.
Senior scientist of NRCE, Dr Anuradha Bhardwaj, who is working on this project, stated that Halari donkey milk never causes allergies to children as it contains anti-oxidants and anti-ageing elements which helps the body in fighting with serious diseases. Before working on the dairy project, Dr Bhardwaj also worked on beauty products with donkey milk which are heavily expensive. Her contrived technique for beauty products has been purchased by a Kerala based company which produce soap, lip balm and body lotion prepared from donkey milk.
Meanwhile, Dr Yashpal, Director of NRCE, informed that this milk contains minimum fat and is good for human consumption.
