Panchkula: Poultry farmers have dumped at least 250 dead chickens on roads of Haryana's Panchkula on Saturday.
Several farmers and poultry shop owners buried dead chickens this morning, stating that there is no business left for them in the market.
The farmers said that they have been witnessing huge losses after the spread of coronavirus in the country as the chicken is not in demand.
According to reports, about 250 chickens found dead on the road and following which locals informed the same to the district administration.
However, no action against this issue has been taken yet by the administration. Meanwhile, the villagers buried 250 dead chickens with the help of earth mover.
Reportedly, Haryana’s Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister JP Dalal has said over 1.66 lakh birds of five poultry farms in Panchkula district will be culled after poultry samples from two farms tested positive for avian flu.
Meanwhile, avian influenza on Friday spread to six states, including Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Gujarat, with the Centre asking the authorities to mount surveillance operations and begin culling infected birds or poultry.
