Gurugram (Haryana): In view of the need of the hour for fast detection of the COVID-19 positive cases, SD Biosensor, a South Korean company based in Haryana's Manesar, has developed a rapid testing kit named 'COVID-IGGIGM'. It is being claimed that this kit can give the result of COVID-19 test within 15 minutes.
Hee Chang Ka, Company's Managing Director, said that due to the coronavirus, there is a very serious situation not only in India but all over the world. That is why they are trying their best to contribute their part to help in the campaign to save India from this pandemic.
"The COVID-19 Diagnosis and examination kit manufactured by the company will be supplied all over India. We are working 24*7 to help the Government in our best possible way. By the end of this month, the company will be successful in manufacturing more than 10 lakh such testing kits," said the Managing Director.
What does this kit actually do?
Whenever a person is infected by a virus, his body produces antibodies to fight against that virus. The same antibodies are detected through this rapid test. In such cases, even for those individuals who do not manifest any such symptoms of coronavirus, it can easily be determined as to whether those individuals are infected or not, or whether they have been infected before.
How is the test conducted?
COVID-IGGIGM Kits are equipped with different types of products, such as IFU, specimen, transfer device, buffer bottle and test cassette. The rapid test is carried out by all these devices.
First of all, the blood sample is taken with the help of lancing device present in the kit. For this, the finger is cleaned using a wipe.
After the liquid on the finger gets dried, the capillary blood is taken out with the help of the capillary device and inserted into the specimen vials of the kit using the specimen transfer device. These samples can be taken in the form of blood, plasma or serum.
The kit's double card consists of IgG and IgM cassettes. Blood is inserted into both vials through a specimen transfer device.
After pouring the blood, three drops of a chemical are poured from the buffer bottle into the second hole of both cassettes. After that, it is left for 15 minutes.
How is the test result analyzed?
Negative result
If only a pink line appears on the rapid test kit, it means that the person has tested negative.
What if positive results appear only in the 'IGGM' kits?
If C and M pink streaks emerge on the kit, it means the patient has tested positive with IgM antibodies. If C and G pink streaks emerge on the kit that means the patient has tested positive with IgT antibodies.
What if positive results appear in both IgG and IgM?
If both G and M pink streaks emerge on the kit then it means the individual is positive with IgG and IgM antibodies.
What happens after the test comes to be positive?
If the rapid test comes to be positive then it means the person may have been a patient of COVID-19, in such a situation, it is advised either to stay in isolation or to be kept in a hospital.
What happens if the test comes negative?
If the rapid test comes to be negative then the real-time PCR test is conducted for such individual. When an individual comes positive in the real-time PCR test, then that person is kept in isolation, either in the hospital or home itself. At the same time, it is believed that there is no Coronavirus infection when the real-time PCR test comes to be negative.
