Kaithal (Haryana): In a bizarre incident, doctors in Haryana's Kaithal pulled out a 6-feet-long tapeworm from a man's intestine.
The tapeworm, which goes by the scientific name Taenia Solium, is nearly 2-meters long.
Also known as pork tapeworm, Taenia Solium can be acquired by eating raw or undercooked meat infested with larval of the worm. When ingested, the tapeworm would take residence and mature in the intestine of its host.
The man told the doctors that he had been having abdominal pain for two months before he sought medical attention.
After performing endoscopy on the patient, the doctors were surprised to find a long tapeworm curled up in the man's small intestine.
The worm was later removed from the man's body by the surgeons.
