Defence Minister urges volunteers to counter fake news with facts

Defence Minister asked social media volunteers of the BJP to counter fake claims on social media with facts immediately. The IT cell of the BJP organised a training camp for about 2,000 social media volunteers in Gurugram which was addressed by Sitharaman, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and others.

New Delhi: Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday asked social media volunteers of the BJP to gear up for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

Addressing a gathering of the BJP social media volunteers, Ms. Sitharaman asked them to counter fake claims on social media with facts immediately.

The IT cell of the BJP organised a training camp for about 2,000 social media volunteers in Gurugram which was addressed by Sitharaman, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and others.

The union minister said that the Balakot air strike and Pulwama terror attack misleading posts must be counter by BJP social media cell.

The Defence Minister called social media volunteers 'Jawans' and asked them to counter misconceptions being spread by opponents.

She asked them to counter opposition parties fake claims and falsehood on social media with facts.

She said that volunteers must inform the public about the benefits provided to society through welfare schemes launched by the BJP government.

The Union minister advised them to use civilised language and even gave tips for it. She also asked for countering the opposition parties false claims in a civilised manner.

She also said that its responsibility of them to convey the citizens of India the work done by PM Narendra Modi in the last five years.

Earlier in the day, BJP senior leader Nirmala Sitharaman abandoned her official car and travelled like a common-man in Delhi metro train to attend the event.
