Army jawan dies under 'suspicious circumstances' in Haryana

The bullet-riddled body of an army jawan was found in Haryana's Chandigarh. The deceased has been identified as 41-year-old Sepoy Manoj Kumar of Army Supply Core and a resident of Jharkhand. The exact cause of the soldier's death is yet to be ascertained.

Chandigarh: An army jawan was found dead with gunshot injuries on his body in Haryana's Chandigarh on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as 41-year-old Sepoy Manoj Kumar of Army Supply Core and a resident of Jharkhand.

According to the police, the relatives of deceased have been informed and after conducting the corona test of the deceased, the body has been kept in the mortuary of Sector-32 Hospital for the post-mortem.

As per sources, Kumar was on duty on Wednesday night from 8 pm to 10 pm.

Around 9:30 pm, an officer living in the nearby quarter heard the sound of firing. Upon hearing the sound of firing, the officer along with other employees arrived at the scene and found that Kumar has been hit by a bullet, said sources.

Following this, Kumar was rushed to the Command hospital where he was declared dead, added sources.

The police are investigating the matter.
