Ahmedabad (Gujarat): In order to stop the spread of the corona pandemic in the state, the state government has made it mandatory for everyone coming to Gujarat from other states to undergo RT-PCR test and only those whose test result comes negative shall be allowed to enter Gujarat. Every person from outside the state will be required to undergo the RT-PCR test 72 hours prior to entering the state and will be allowed to enter Gujarat only if the test result is negative. Thorough checking is being carried out on persons at all the entry points from the neighbouring states.

Those coming into Gujarat will have to undergo an RT-PCR test

At present, all passengers arriving at the Ahmedabad International airport are subjected to an RT-PCR test after getting their forms filled up. To ease the rush and reduce the time on filling up of physical form, the airport will shortly introduce an online registration system that will allow the passenger to undergo an RT-PCR test within a few minutes. Every passenger arriving in Ahmedabad will have to remain quarantined at home for seven days and if the test result comes to be positive the person will be informed by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and given medical treatment.

A total of 20 RT-PCR test centres have been set up at Ahmedabad’s domestic and international airport, ten at each terminal. At present every person arriving at the international airport has to fill up a form and undergo RT-PCR test. This consumes a lot of time and causes crowding. Now instead of filling up a physical form, the passenger can do so online and undergo the test in minutes.

According to the COVID-19 rules, maintaining social distance, wearing a mask and cleaning hands with a sanitiser is mandatory for everyone. To ensure that the rules are being adhered to, CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor the movements of passengers closely. Customer service executives have been deployed at the airport who ensure no crowding of people takes place and proper social distancing is maintained. The COVID-19 guidelines are also announced through the public address system at the international airport at ten minutes interval.
