Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Police Housing board has provided creches in all the police stations and office buildings for the children of women officers performing duty as coronavirus warriors on streets at great personal risk.

Creches would also be provided in the new police stations that are planned to be built in the future.

The women cops would also be allowed to wear military caps during the summer to protect them from extreme daytime temperature as they have to perform their duty under the sun while ensuring that the general public abides by the lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

According to police sources, as wearing a woollen beret cap causes extreme discomfort, all the police staff will be allowed to wear cotton military caps.

Many women officers are bringing their babies to work. Recently, an eight-month pregnant woman cop was seen performing her duty in Ahmedabad.

It is noteworthy that as many as 30 employees of the health and police departments, serving in coronavirus hotspot areas to enforce lockdown and curfew, had tested positive for coronavirus. As a result of efficient policing during the lockdown, there has been a reduction in the number of new coronavirus positive cases in the state.

There were over 2500 coronavirus police cases registered in Gujarat up till April 23 of which 1500 were reported from Ahmedabad.
