Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Gujarat on October 31. He will travel to the Statue of Unity near Sardar Sarovar Dam at Kevadiya Colony. The statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is the tallest in the world and is dedicated to his memory as a symbol of unity of India.

The statue was inaugurated on 31st October 2018 by PM Modi himself and now after two years, he will visit it again. However this time he will reach the place in a seaplane. This will be the second time that he will fly in a sea-plane; last time he had taken the flight from Sabarmati Riverfront to Dharoi Dam in North Gujarat to visit Ambajee Temple.

Just like the Statue of Unity, the seaplane from Sabarmati Riverfront is PM Modi’s dream project. The work for the floating jetty is going in full swing at the moment. The permanent jetty is being constructed near the Ambedkar Bridge on the Sabarmati River.

The jetty weighs about 20 tons and there are 15 anchors, weighing 15 tons, to keep the jetty stable on the water. The design of the jetty is such that it will go up and down as the water level in the river rises and falls. In addition, a bridge will be built to reach the jetty and an airport terminal building and watchtower will come up on the shore of the river.

There is a plan to fly four daily flights to and fro from Ahmedabad to Sardar Sarovar Dam near the Statue of Unity. The seaplane has the capacity to fly 14 passengers at a time. Officers from the local body of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation have also joined hands with the top officials of the Government of Gujarat to finish the work in time. Adequate fire safety arrangements have also been made for the arrival of the Prime Minister.

It may be mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also contributed to the development of Sardar Sarovar Dam, the lifeline of Gujarat. The dam is becoming a tourist attraction and apart from the world's tallest statue of Sardar Patel, many attractions are being added. For the safety measure, the task of removing crocodiles at the landing site at the Sardar Sarovar Dam has been completed.
