Surat: The prisoners of the Lajpore Central Jail (LCJ) will complete their studies online despite being locked down in jail.
The LCJ in Sachin area of Surat is a hi-tech jail comprising of over 100 women and 2,000 men prisoners.
The prison administration have worked out an arrangement to provide online classes facilities for these inmates.
Last year, 13 prisoners had appeared and passed the Secondary School Certificate examination.
Around 63 prisoners in the jail are preparing for class 10th and 12th examinations. Meanwhile, the Lajpore will be the first jail in Gujarat to introduce online education for prisoners.
P P Savani School will provide online coaching to the inmates in the jail.
The online classes for the new academic session began in the presence of jail superintendent Manoj Ninama, official of PP Savani Group Maheshbhai Savani, principal of LD High School of Sachin, Nileshbhai Joshi and the staff members of the jail.
