Anand (Gujarat): The second wave of COVID-9 is spreading in the Anand district by the day. One can see lines of ambulances outside the hospital carrying patients waiting to be admitted to hospitals for treatment. This is bound to shake up the courage of the corona-infected patients. Most hospitals in the district are fully occupied by corona patients.
At present, the district administration has converted buildings of schools and other institutions into COVID care centres for patients exhibiting mild symptoms so as to ease the pressure on hospitals. It is also difficult for patients to remain self-quarantined. It is with an intention to boost the mental strength of the patients, Anand police have launched the ‘Namanah: aadar saathe apnapan’ programme.
Under the initiative, the police, through video calls, will communicate with the Covid patients. Like a friend, the police counsel them to remove any kind of fear that the patients may have. The video calling is done every day.
According to information, the programme was initiated by the district superintendent of police Ajit Rajiyane under the guidance of DGP Ashish Bhatia and Ahmedabad range IGP P V Chandrasekharan.
As the campaign received a good response, the police now plan to hold video calling with all senior citizens in home quarantine to allay their fears about the pandemic as well as to create awareness among them about COVID-19 preventive rules.
