Persistent dumping of garbage in river Yamuna has put a big question mark on its existence. Apart from this food crops and vegetables grown along Yamuna banks are unhygienic for consumption.

New Delhi: The existence of Yamuna in Delhi is in danger due to persistent dumping of garbage by the people in the river. Apart from this, the untreated sewage from Chandni Chowk area of Delhi is also being directed into it.

The central and state government is running several projects to clean the rivers but the condition of Yamuna raises a question mark on the functioning of these 'clean Yamuna' projects.

Intro:यमुना नदी हजारों लोगों की आस्था से जुड़ी है लेकिन आस्था का केंद्र होने के बावजूद भी केंद्र और राज्य सरकार का ध्यान इस की ओर नहीं जा रहा है.

Body:गंगा नदी की सबसे बड़ी सहायक नदी यमुना, जो कि हजारों श्रद्धालुओं की आस्था का केंद्र है आज अपनी बदहाली पर आंसू बहा रही है.

यमुना जो कि यमुनोत्री नामक जगह से निकलती है और इलाहाबाद में गंगा से मिल जाती है, लेकिन राजधानी दिल्ली में यमुना नदी श्रद्धा का नहीं बल्कि कूड़े और गंदे नालों के पानी को छोड़ने का स्थान बन चुकी है.

पुरानी दिल्ली के चांदनी चौक के नालों का पानी यमुना नदी में छोड़ा जा रहा है जिसकी वजह से पवित्र नदी दिन प्रतिदिन प्रदूषित हो जा रही है, साथ ही नालों के पानी के साथ तरह-तरह का कूड़ा भी नदी में प्रवेश कर रहा है स्थिति यह है कि नदी का पानी ऊपर से देखने में काला नजर आता.

जब हमने एक स्थानीय नाविक से बात की जो कि यमुना नदी में नाव चलाता है तो उसने बताया कि कभी इस नदी का पानी इतना शुद्ध होता था कि उसका प्रयोग खाने पीने में किया जाता था लेकिन आज स्थिति इतनी गंभीर है गंदे पानी और बदबू के कारण यहां कोई आना नहीं चाहता.

Conclusion:केंद्र और राज्य सरकार विभिन्न प्रोजेक्ट चलाकर नदियों की साफ सफाई कर रही है लेकिन यमुना की दुर्दशा सरकारी प्रोजेक्ट पर एक सवालिया निशान खड़ा कर देती है.
