New Delhi: The Begusarai district administration in Bihar on Thursday booked Union minister and BJP leader Giriraj Singh for violating the Model Code of Conduct with a comment against Muslims at a rally in Bihar's Begusarai.
Begusarai District Magistrate Rahul Kumar took suo motu cognisance of Singh’s comments and lodged a first information report at the town police station against him for “hurting religious sentiments.
Speaking to Etv Bharat on the matter, Rajya Sabha MP Rakesh Sinha lashed out at District Magistrate Rahul Kumar saying,"Rahul Kumar has taken a one-sided decision. He lodged the FIR on Giriraj Singh over false interpretation. Kumar is trying to influence the election in favour of Kanhaiya Kumar."
Hitting out at Shehla, Sinha said,"Who gave Shehla Rashid the right to prod Hindu religious sentiments?"
Shehla Rashid has been consistently campaigning for Kanhaiya Kumar and stated said that “Government has been leaving the responsibility of saving the ‘religion’ on the poor, whereas, all the wealthy people, both Hindu and Muslims together sit in hotels and eat beef and consume liquor.”
Sinha also stated,"Only those are campaigning for Kanhaiya Kumar who want to divide the nation. People from Bangladesh have also come to campaign for Kumar. The administration should find out who all will campaign for Kanhaiya."
Polling in the fourth phase will be held on April 29, fifth on May 6, sixth on May 12 and the seventh on May 19. The counting will take place on May 23.
