VHP urges Pakistan to hand over gold idols found in Multan to India

A Vishwa Hindu Parishad delegation has requested Pakistan govt to hand over the gold idols of Hindu deities recovered from Multan court premises. The delegation has asked the official to hand over the gold idols to the Indian High Commission in Pakistan so they can be brought to India for worship.

New Delhi: A Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) delegation lead by Delhi state president Kapil Khanna on Monday gave a memorandum to the High Commissioner of Pakistan in New Delhi, asking Pakistan to hand over the gold idols of Hindu deities recovered from Multan court premises.

The VHP asked the official to hand over the gold idols to the Indian High Commission in Pakistan so they can be brought to India for worship.

"We have come to know through media about the discovery of idols of the Hindu deities inside Malkhana No 1 at Katcheri District Courts, Multan, Pakistan by the labourers while digging the ground to erect a new building connecting as an extension in the existing District Courts," the delegation said in the memorandum.

"This step will also help in building a relationship and bring harmony between the two neighbouring nations and citing a great example for extending friendship from the Government of Pakistan. We are sure that this good gesture from Pakistan will further strengthen our relationship as good neighbours,” read the memorandum.

Speaking to media, Kapil Khanna said that due to the COVID pandemic a personal meeting with the High Commissioner of Pakistan in New Delhi could not be arranged.

"We have only one objective, we want idols since it is a matter of our faith. We only want to bring it back so that it can be placed in Hindu temples as per Hindu rituals," said Khanna.

Earlier, Pakistani media had reported that the city police had sealed an area in Pakistan's Multan after some treasures were discovered in Malkhana’s Katcheri premises.
