New Delhi: Vishwa Hindu Parishad, on Thursday, demanded the Central government that the Bhagwat Gita should be declared as a National book. Vishwa Gita Sansthan, the newly-formed affiliate organisation of the VHP, said that it will submit a memorandum to President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking declaration of holy book as national book.

Addressing media in New Delhi, senior VHP leader and a key member in the organisation Acharya Radhakrishna Manori stated, the Bhagwat Geeta should be included in the syllabus and also be inducted into teachers' training programs.

Radhakrishna Manori stated, "the education system has deceived our country. Teachers are highly paid but they are playing with the future of the children. The kind of guidance that should have been given to the children is not being given. That is why Gita should be inducted into the education system so that teachers could also understand their duties,"

"The organisation has made a list of demands to be submitted before the government. The demand also includes the outreach of the book through mass distribution and advertising. Gita Week should also be organised in the government departments on a regular basis." Manori added.

Acharya further stated that the organisation not only aims to spread the verse of Gita in India but has its members in other parts of the world.

"Bhagwat Gita doesn't represent any one community or caste because it doesn't criticize any caste, community or religion. Krishna's 40 minutes address to Arjun is a guide to every human being," Acharya said.

"Vishwa Gita Sansthan will also distribute 'Bhagwat Git' free of cost through a massive campaign across the nation. The holy book will be translated into local languages for the convenience of the readers," said Acharya who also claimed that the organisation has already distributed 5,000 copies among the citizens.
