New Delhi: The Ministry of Education has released the notification on 20th October 2020 about the UNESCO’s Wenhui Award nominations.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization known as UNESCO in collaboration with Asia-Pacific Programme of Educational Innovation for Development (APEID) has jointly created the award “Wenhui Prize” in the year 2010 along with the National Commission of the People’s Republic of China for UNESCO.
This award is given in order to honour, recognize and reward the Individuals or the Institutions which made an outstanding contribution to the Educational Innovations in the Asia-Pacific region.
According to the notification, the UNESCO headquarters of Paris has invited Indian National Commission for Cooperation to nominate their Individuals or the Institutions for the “Wenhui Prize” (Indian National Commission for Cooperation is a part of UNESCO.)
Individuals and institutions from the UNESCO Member States in the Asia-Pacific region are eligible to apply for this Wenhui Award. The eligibility and selection criteria are detailed in their concept note. The link of the same is attached at the end.
The Wenhui Award shall be awarded to Two individuals or Institutions in the Asia-Pacific region for their outstanding performances and achievements in their educational innovation with regard to the current year 2020 theme ie., “Educational Innovation in Response to Pandemic and Other Emergencies”.
The two winners either an individual or the institutions will get a Certificate of Excellence and a prize award of US$ 20,000 each. Apart from the two winners; A Honorable recognition will be granted to the individuals or institutions that have performed the best innovative educational practices.
The winners of the Wenhui Award and the participants of the Honorable recognition will be announced by the end of November 2020, and the winners will be invited for the Award Ceremony in the course of time.
Over the past years, 51 Awards and Honorable recognition have been granted to individuals and institutions from 17 countries across Asia – Pacific region.
All the nominations are to be sent only through the Indian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO before October 25th, 2020. It is informed that no nominations are to be sent directly to UNESCO.
