New Delhi: At a time when the national capital is battling with the COVID-19 crisis, thieves in Delhi's Jangpura area have found a new way to make money in these times also.
As the commuting has reduced these days because of the pandemic, the vehicles parked outside the residential buildings have become easy targets for the thieves.
A gang of thieves are on the prowl in the city, mostly at Jangpura extension, where they target the tyres of the cars parked in residential areas.
Police said that the criminals steal the tyres of expensive cars and later sell them in the spare parts market.
The gang of tyre thieves target the high-end cars at midnight at places where there are no CCTV cameras installed, police said.
They said such cases have come in the past too where the thieves would steal the parts, mainly wheels and batteries.
