New Delhi: In a major setback for the newly-joined Congress leader Hardik Patel, the Gujarat High Court on Friday rejected his plea seeking suspension of his conviction in a rioting case of 2015 in Mehsana. Patel blamed the BJP for his fate, saying that he got “the reward for taking on the ruling party."
While speaking to Etv Bharat, the Patidar leader said." I welcome the Gujarat high court verdict. Elections come and go. But it seems that BJP has been acting against constitutional values."
"This verdict is the result of my fight against the ruling BJP. I did not bow down before the BJP, this was my only fault," said Hardik.
In Twitter posts, the Patidar leader also alleged that he was being stopped from contesting the elections, while BJP leaders who had cases against them, including convictions, were untouched. It seems that the law is imposed on Congress only.
"I am not going to be scared. I will keep raising my voice with truthfulness, nonviolence and honesty for the people. We will form a Congress Government which will be the people's government. Now, I will not only campaign in Gujrat but in the entire country." he said.
Patel joined the Congress on March 12 at a party rally in Ahmedabad.
