New Delhi: Giriraj Singh, BJP candidate from Begusarai (Bihar), attacked an RJD candidate from Darbangah who refused to say Vande Matram. Singh said that those who wanted land for their grave in the country would have to chant Vande Mataram.
Reacting to Giriraj's statement, Congress member Tariq Anwar, in an interview with ETV Bharat, condemned the incident and said that politicians like Giriraj Singh and PM Modi wanted to divert the masses' attention from key topics such as development and jobs by making such statements in the public.
Such statements were made to gain mere political benefits and spread hatred among the society, he said. The Congress member further said that the present government had failed to provide jobs and address the plight of the farmers.
He expressed confidence in the joint alliance to win in Bihar this time that includes parties such as Congress, RLSP, HAM, VIP and left party as well. Taking a jibe at Nitish Kumar, Tariq Anwar said that during UPA'S regime in the centre, Nitish Kumar used to demand special status for Bihar unlike now during the NDA's regime.
