Students stab class monitor in New Delhi's government school

A student studying in Class VIII of a government school situated in New Delhi's Sangam Vihar was stabbed by his classmates on Friday morning.

New Delhi: A student studying in Class VIII of a government school situated in New Delhi's Sangam Vihar was stabbed by his classmates on Friday morning. The injured student, who is the monitor of his class, was immediately admitted to a hospital. His condition was stated to be stable.

A group of three or four classmates attacked the class monitor with a knife. Sources said that the class monitor had handed over a list of three or four students, who were creating a nuisance in the class. The victim had given the list of erring students at the behest of a teacher. The list was given to the school principal. The students whose complaints were forwarded to the school principal by the class monitor were nursing a grudge against the latter. Peeved over the registration of a complaint against them, the three or four students attacked the class monitor with a knife. The victim suffered injuries in the stomach and back portion of his body. He was bleeding profusely. His school uniform was completely soaked with blood.

The injured student was immediately taken to a hospital. His condition was stated to be stable. The family members of the victim lodged a police complaint. Following this police have begun probing the incident. It is learnt from the sources that three to four students attacked the class monitor with a knife. All are studying in Class VIII.

A similar incident had been reported in a government school situated in New Delhi's Kalkaji area. A clash had taken place between the two groups of students. The fight broke out when they were playing on the school's grounds. During the clash, a 14-year-old student sustained stab wounds. The critically injured student had been admitted to a hospital.
