New Delhi: JD(U) senior leader, Dinesh Chandra Yadav on Tuesday said that Centre must give special status to Bihar if it wants the state to develop. He argued that the status is important as the state is fighting many problems like Naxalism, unemployment and floods.
"When Jharkhand was disintegrated from Bihar, all the mineral wealth went along with it. The state was left with nothing. Special status will help in the upliftment of the state," he said.
"This has been our demand since the time JD(U) was not with NDA. Now that we are with NDA we hope that our demand will be heard at the Centre," Yadav added.
While dismissing all the allegations of putting pressure on NDA for the status, Yadav said that JD(U) is not pressurising anyone and the demand is not for any political gains.
