Silent protest continues against CAA at Jama Masjid

The local residents of Delhi's Jama Masjid area continue their protest at Jama Masjid demanding the withdrawal of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). It is to be noted that 144 CrPC is in force in many parts of the national capital including the Jama Masjid area.

New Delhi: Braving chilly winter nights in the national capital, anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) agitators continue their protest at Jama Masjid demanding the withdrawal of the Act.

This protest is, however, different from the other slogans and procession marked protest.

For the last one week, local residents of Delhi's Jama Masjid area have been gathering near the Jama Masjid to mark their peaceful protest against CAA.

"We are doing this silent protest for the last one week. We believe that the government will definitely reconsider its decision," said a protestor to ETV Bharat. The protestors were also displaying placards in their hand.

On Friday, the Delhi police asked the agitators to stop the protest.

"We are doing silent protest, even then police today asked us to stop our protest," a protestor said.

It is to be noted that 144 CrPC is in force in many parts of the national capital including the Jama Masjid area. Police said that the precaution was taken to avert any possible untoward incident.

"Frankly speaking I don't believe that government will withdraw this Act," said another agitator expressing her anguish that so.many people have already died in the anti-CAA protest.
