New Delhi: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Thursday has defended the government on the passing of the Triple Talaq Bill saying that it was not a bill passed for the sake of vote-bank politics, but to honour the Muslim women.
However, in the same breath Raut also demanded that strict action should be initiated on the 'Unnao Rape Victim' accident case.
Talking exclusively with ETV Bharat on the passing of Triple Talaq, the Shiv Sena leader said that many parties have contributed greatly in the passing of the bill especially those parties who walked out of the House and also those who did not take part in the election.
On the 'Unnao Rape Victim accident case' he said that it is a "heinous crime". The accused must be punished severely and a proper investigation should be carried out in the matter. Moreover, the BJP should also take appropriate action against the accused MLA of the party.
Raut also added that the government should not take cases related to the growing crimes against women lightly. A proper investigation should be carried out in the Unnao case and it should be handled in a sensitive manner.
