Amit Shah emphasises on psycho-social counselling of COVID-19 patients

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who visited Delhi's Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) hospital, after chairing an all-party meeting with all political parties based in the national capital, to take stock of the Covid-19 preparedness, asked Delhi chief secretary Anshu Prakash to ensure psycho-social counselling of Covid-19 patients, doctors and nurses.

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday asked Delhi chief secretary Anshu Prakash to ensure psycho-social counselling of Covid-19 patients, doctors and nurses to help them vent out their concerns and anxieties and get a resolution of their mental stress if any.

The direction came after Shah visited Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) hospital, after chairing an all-party meeting with all political parties based in the city, to take stock of the Covid-19 preparedness.

He also asked to install CCTV cameras in all COVID-19 wards of all Delhi government hospitals to constantly monitor and resolve issues being faced by the patients.

Government sources said that Shah has also asked to create a backup canteen in all Delhi government hospitals so that if any infected case is detected in one, the other canteen remain functional.

In the all-party meeting, Home Minister assured that Covid-19 testing in the national capital will now be ramped up.

Later, Shah said that he had a comprehensive meeting with the doctors and officials on the COVID-19 situation.

Meanwhile, with 7419 recovered Covid-19 patients, India's total recovery number reached to 169797 with 5.08 per cent.

The country currently has 153106 active COVID cases. Significantly, ICMR has also ramped up the Covdi19 testing in its 901 laboratories.

In the last 24 hours, the laboratories (both Government and private) tested 115519 samples taking the total number to 5774133.
