SC slams centre for delaying installation of smog towers in Delhi

Supreme court criticised centre on Thursday for the delay in installation of smog towers in Delhi. The court asked the Centre to file a detailed reply on the queries raised regarding non-compliance of court's orders by Monday, 3rd August and said that they won't be postponing the matter thereafter.

New Delhi: The apex court on Thursday slammed the Centre for the delay in installation of smog towers in Delhi.

The centre informed the Supreme Court that MoU for IIT Bombay and Centre and Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) regarding the installation of smog towers in Delhi is ready and will be signed digitally. The bench led by Justice Arun Mishra asked the MoU to be submitted in the court and questioned the centre on why was the court's order not compiled.

However, SG Tushar Mehta replied that drawing tower will be made available by IITB in 2 months, the technical part will take 3 months and setting it up will take 10 months.

Further, Justice Mishra warned that all concerned person of the case shouldn't be called to the court as the task can be completed in the time frame allotted by the court and there are files and records available for it.
