New Delhi: The Supreme Court has directed the Faridabad Municipal Corporation to provide provisional allotments to the evicted residents of Khori Gaon within a week after receiving documents regarding rehabilitation. The apex court has further directed the Faridabad Municipal Corporation that their letters must make it clear that the evicted residents will be provided with a temporary shelter and they would have to vacate after the final judgement.
The bench comprising Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice Dinesh Maheshwari was hearing petitions pertaining to demolitions of illegal houses built on forest land in the Khori Gaon, Faridabad. The court had ordered the demolition and had asked the state to come with a rehabilitation policy for the evicted people.

Today, the Haryana government has informed the apex court that the last date for the submission of applications has been set as 15th October.
By 25th October, applications will be scrutinised. By 27th October, the list will be finalised and the draw of the EWS will happen on 30th October.
From 1st November, Rs2000 will be given, allotment letters will be issued on 15th November and the final possession of flats will be given on 30th April 2022.
On this, the court said that the final possession's date is too late and some temporary shelter should be provided to the eligible people immediately. It pulled up the Faridabad Municipal Corporation for changing its counsels. It also pulled up the corporation for changing the commissioner without taking permission or having the courtesy to inform when the matter is ongoing in Court.

Haryana government informed the court that the flats are not habitable as construction work is still going on. Senior Advocate Arun Bharadwaj appearing for Haryana said that they will try to speed up and complete the work with 1.5 months instead of mentioned 4-5 months.
Senior Advocate Colin Gonsalves requested the court to extend the time for submission of applications as people are not aware of what is happening and the procedure might take time. The court accepted the request and extended the date of application to 15th November. The court has further set the date of 20th September at 2pm for further hearing in this case.
