New Delhi: Following a marked improvement in his health condition, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, who has been battling COVID-19, was moved to the general ward from the ICU on Monday.

Jain, who was admitted to the ICU of Max Hospital on June 19, has now been moved to the general ward and is no longer on oxygen support.

The minister's fever has also subsided, and doctors will now monitor him at the general ward itself.

He had tested positive for COVID-19 on June 17, a day after he was admitted to government-run RGSSH after running high-grade fever and suffering sudden drop in oxygen levels.

However, doctors at the government hospital said he has been diagnosed with pneumonia and his oxygen saturation level has also dipped, prompting the hospital authorities to shift him to an intensive care unit.

Jain was later moved to the ICU of the private Max Hospital after his condition deteriorated on June 19. On the same night, he was administered plasma therapy, following which his condition reportedly improved.
