Delhi court reserves decision on LJP MP Prince Raj's bail plea in rape case

New Delhi: Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court has reserved its verdict on the anticipatory bail plea of ​​Lok Janshakti Party MP Prince Raj in connection with a rape case.

Special Judge MK Nagpal reserved the verdict after hearing the arguments of both sides. An FIR was lodged against MP Prince Raj by a woman alleging rape. On 16 September, in Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court, Delhi Police opposed the petition of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) MP Prince Raj, challenging the interrogation.

Delhi Police said that the video related to the case contains objectionable content. According to the complainant, this video is in the possession of Prince Raj. Advocate Vikas Pahwa, representing Prince Raj, said that the complainant has filed a fake case and wants to extort money from his client.

What is the case?

A woman has filed a complaint against LJP MP Prince Raj alleging sexual harassment in June. It was alleged that Prince Raj gave her an intoxicating drink due to which she fainted. In an unconscious state, Prince had sex with her. Later he also promised marriage. On the complaint of the woman, the court had ordered to register an FIR against Prince Raj. After that, on 9th September, Delhi Police registered an FIR.

Prince Raj also complained against the woman and her friend on 10th February for threatening to implicate him in the rape case. On the complaint of Prince Raj, an FIR was registered at Parliament Street Police Station in Delhi. The FIR mentioned demand for ransom and intimidation to collect the ransom. Prince Raj's complaint states that last year he had met a woman who had described herself as a political worker. Both gave their phone numbers to each other and they became friends.

According to Prince Raj, on June 18, 2020, the woman called him to her house and there was a physical relationship between the two. Prince Raj has visited the lady's house many times. Prince Raj had alleged in his complaint letter that after a few months, he came to know that the woman was having in a live-in relationship with a man. He asked the woman about it. From August 2020, Prince Raj started ignoring the woman and even stopped picking up her phone.

One day the woman's friend spoke to him and threatened that he would leak the objectionable video. According to Prince Raj's complaint, the woman's friend demanded Rs1 crore for not leaking the objectionable video. Prince Raj also gave her two lakh rupees, but despite that, the woman and her friend continued to demand one crore rupees. After that Prince Raj complained to the Delhi Police on 9th February.
